Other Vulcanizing Agents

Other Vulcanizing Agents is the process by which raw rubber is converted into a harder, more elastic, and more stable material. Sulfur is known as the main vulcanizing agent, but there are other factors that can speed up or improve this process.

Advantages of using non-sulfur vulcanizing agents

More speed: Some non-sulfur vulcanizing agents accelerate the vulcanization process.
Better properties: Using different vulcanizing agents can improve certain properties such as heat resistance, chemical resistance, and aging resistance.
Compatibility with rubber types: Non-sulfur vulcanizing agents can be used for different types of rubber.

Applications of non-sulfur vulcanizing agents

Production of products with high service temperatures: Peroxides are used to produce products that operate at high temperatures, such as engine gaskets.
Production of products with high chemical resistance: Phenolic resins are used to produce products that are exposed to corrosive chemicals, such as protective coatings.
Production of light-colored products: Some non-sulfur vulcanizing agents do not cause product color changes and are used to produce light-colored products.
