Benzoic acid
Benzoic acid is a versatile compound widely used across various industries due to its unique properties and multiple applications. With the chemical formula C₇H₆O₂, it is a white crystalline solid that naturally occurs in several fruits.
In general, benzoic acid is mainly used as a chemical intermediate for the synthesis of industrial chemicals such as phenol, caprolactam and glycol benzoate for use as a plasticizer in adhesive formulations. It is also used in the manufacture of alkyd resins, a drilling mud additive for crude oil recovery applications and as a rubber polymerization activator and inhibitor.
